Reiki sessions

Reiki sessions

One-to-one energy-balancing sessions to calm stress and recover deep rest.

A Reiki session is an hour that belongs to you: you lie down, fully clothed, and through a gentle laying-on of hands the body settles into deep relaxation. Most people describe it as the deepest rest they can remember. Helpful for stress, anxiety, insomnia and seasons of change. If you'd like, the session can include a set of large quartz crystals placed during the treatment, as a calm complement to the experience.

One-to-one zen meditation

One-to-one zen meditation

Personal meditation mentoring, just for you: the extra guidance to sustain the practice.

A one-to-one zen meditation session: posture, breath and silence, with close guidance at your own pace. With just the two of us, I can correct your posture up close — the back, the seat, the position of your hands — until the body finds the balance that favours full, unrestricted breathing. Ideal if you're looking for that extra push to build the habit, guided step by step — without the exposure of a group. You'll learn to sustain the practice at home too.

About me

I am David Hikari, Reiki therapist and teacher in Barcelona. Hikari (光) means light in Japanese: it is the name I sign this practice with, and the intention that guides it.

I hold the rank of sempai, recognised by the European Reiki Federation, and my practice lineage reaches back, teacher to teacher, to Mikao Usui, the founder of the method. That unbroken chain of transmission is what I received, what I practise and what I teach.

I work with people who arrive carrying stress, tiredness or mental noise, and with those who want to learn: I teach Reiki by levels and offer one-to-one zen meditation mentoring. I also hold a certification in Facial Acupuncture and an Introduction to Chinese Medicine. I work from calm, without hurry and without grand promises: the body knows how to return to its centre when it is given the space.

You can find me at Centre Reiki Les Corts, in Barcelona.

Frequently asked questions

The most common doubts before a first Reiki session.

You lie down fully clothed on a treatment table, in a quiet room, while I place my hands over different areas of the body. For most of the session the hands do not actually touch you: they hover a few centimetres above the body; only over a few neutral areas (shoulders, head) is there sometimes very light touch, and you can always ask for no touch at all. A session usually lasts about 60 minutes. There is no medical diagnosis: the focus is on supporting deep relaxation and energetic balance.

No. For most of the session the hands do not touch the body at all — they stay a few centimetres above it; where there is contact, on a few neutral areas (shoulders, head, abdomen, feet), it is very gentle and never invasive, and you only need to tell me if you would rather have no physical contact at all. Many people don't even feel pressure — just warmth or a light tingling sensation.

No, you stay fully clothed throughout the whole session. Comfortable, loose clothing is recommended to help you relax.

No. Reiki doesn't require any prior belief and belongs to no religion: it's received the same way by believers, agnostics or atheists, because the focus is wellbeing and relaxation, not doctrine. If you have any personal concerns about it, we can talk it through before we start.

It depends on what you're looking for: a single session can be enough to unwind, while for ongoing stress, insomnia or periods of change, several spaced-out sessions (weekly, for example) are usually recommended for a cumulative effect. We figure this out together based on how you feel.

A 60-minute individual session costs €40. If you come regularly, I offer a 5-session pack for €180 (€36 per session). For your first time, you can ask me about a shorter introductory session before booking the full one.

The most common effects are deep relaxation, a sense of calm, clearer thinking and, sometimes, a pleasant tiredness afterwards — similar to how you feel after a good nap. For some people the emotional release can be more than mild — from a moment of tears to a deep sense of relief — and this is a natural response of the body releasing built-up tension. It is also common that, in the calm the session leaves behind, ideas, intuitions or small insights come through more clearly, helping to see a problem from another angle or to get clarity on an important decision; this is not something the session promises, but a frequent effect of quieting mental noise and making space for one's own intuition.

Reiki is a non-invasive and generally safe practice, but it doesn't replace medical or psychological treatment: it should never be a reason to stop a prescribed therapy, nor used during an acute medical emergency. If you have a relevant health condition, let me know before booking.

Reiki is a complementary wellbeing practice, not a medical treatment: it does not replace the diagnosis or treatment of a healthcare professional. That said, several meta-analyses published in indexed scientific journals report statistically significant reductions in pain and anxiety, and improvements in quality of life, in people receiving Reiki sessions — particularly as support during cancer care. The scientific community still considers this evidence limited (the underlying studies are small and call for further research), and agrees that Reiki is a safe practice with no documented adverse effects. It is always offered as a complement to wellbeing, never as a substitute for medicine.
